MADISON (WKOW) -- Parents and health care providers made their case on what should be included in the state's proposed autism coverage.

The proposal would require insurance coverage of autism spectrum disorders in Wisconsin.

At a hearing Wednesday, people like Dave Moore, asked to consider changes including requiring companies that offer self insured insurance plans to cover autism.

"I understand that this is suppose to protect the smaller companies that insure a handful or two dozen people, but the larger companies that insure hundreds if not thousands should be equally obligated to share the costs of covering our kids," he said.

Wisconsin's Office of the Commissioner of Insurance will be taking comments until mid December.
