@ the legislative session... AADD is endorsing Senate Bill 22

AADD is endorsing Senate Bill 22 which would call for a Georgia Coordinating Council for Rural and Human Services Transportation to look at how to best leverage transportation services for the aging community, the disabled community, rural transit riders, local fixed route transit agencies and their riders, regional agencies, the private sector, and non-profit organizations. It would call for all agencies that provide transportation to coordinate their efforts. We are working with the agencies who advocate for people who are aging on SB 22, and we think it would be a small step in attacking the pervasive issue of transportation issues for people with disabilities in the state. Right now, the bill is held up in the Rule Committee, and we are asking legislators to ask for the bill to be added to the Rules calendar so it can be voted on by the full Senate.
