For a complete version of Senate Bill 10, private school vouchers for children with disabilities,

http://www.legis.state.ga.us/legis/2007_08/fulltext/sb10.htm

If you get a chance, read through it and tell me what you like, don't like, and what was left out.

Have a great weekend!

Hi, Rita and Dave.. :waving:

Wow, nice integration of Blogger into your website.. Congrats..

On SB10, as I'm sure you all are aware, somehow it feels that things are just "beginning" here..

Your announcement of this post caught me contemplating typing the following suggestion to a few parents' listservs so will share more publicly here, instead :: Regarding the [implementation] of SB10, what about organizing something like some in-person town hall meetings across the state to help mediate some of the unease, unrest that can be unmistakably felt right now..?

Am thinking town hall meetings where ALL interested parties can participate and genuinely let their Voices be heard by everyone..?

Just like we had back when regarding local community (mental) health services.. Perhaps whoever handled those could be considered for something like this even..?

Just thinking out loud..

Although I am by no means a fan of School vouchers, obviously there are children in Special Education who are not getting the help they need and by law are guaranteed. Even thought my own daughters school has seemed concerned and have made accomodations, the fact is, she is a hands on learner and a class of twenty kids is not conducive to hands on teaching. Whe bored, she becomes a discilpline problem and GA teachers are not required to take any more than one basic Special Ed class for their elementary cert.

I am seriously considering sending her to a private schoo but unfortunately, the one I would have chosen is closed. The option is there and I more than likely will take advantage of it.
